It seems that we are getting serious guys! The climate change is not a joke.. Please have a look to some studies managed by NASA to understand Earth system processes and how they affect our climate: link here.

Nostalgy...

Some years ago I bought 1 copy of one of the most famous books of all the history of science: "The origin of species" of Charles Darwin.
One day as today, specifically in 1859, you could come into a bookshop and buy one of the first copies of one of the greatest scientific books ever written.
What do you think about the theory of evolution? Are we strong enough to survive?
If you are interested in some recent documentaries about the great genius of Darwin, I invite you to have a look to the videos of the great Richard Dawkins:

Spacecraft lands on comet

I am sure you have read, heard or somehow were hit by the news of Rosetta and Philae in the last week. No, this is not a science fiction movie.. we are doing it.. finally we are getting closer to be able to go far beyond the limits of planet and touch other worlds! Wait.. maybe I am too excited... For the first time humanity is not only getting closer to a comet but landing on it with the same mission. Some time ago (around 4.5 billions year ago approximately) our solar system was formed, and since comets have been in an environment of about 50 K (pretty cold, right?) the molecular composition has remained almost unalterable over time. In a mixture of rock, dust and frozen gases we hope we can find answers to understand where we come from, and maybe, where we are heading.
10 years was the time to reach the comet, a feat of science once more. With patience and willingness anything is possible!
If you would like to understand better how the trip was during these 10 years, I invite you to have a look to this link.

Mutation allowing to digest milk

In the current issue of the magazine "Investigación y Ciencia" (the spanish version of Scientific American) there are very interesting articles about the evolution. I would like to highlight one I feel very glad to discover: There is a mutation which allows people to be able to digest milk. It is well known that the percentage of people intolerant to lactose is very high, especially in Asian countries. Sorry that the information is in spanish. At least I hope you can get the main message with the graph.

I think this is a very cool and simple video. What do you think we could be able to do in the future with this kind of materials?

Interstellar

The movie "Interstellar" and its incoherences..
I have to admit that I didn´t know what to expect from the movie. At the very beginning the idea of the end of the world full of "dust" everywhere already started to sound a bit strange…
Then the first incoherence appeared when suddenly the coordinates made in dust using binary code (difficult to make, isn´t it?) lead the hero to the secret place and what did the people there do? They let him pilot the super spaceship which is the only hope for the human race.. I won´t continue for the moment. I want to let people to watch the movie and express their opinions.. who knows? Maybe in the end we will find "decoherence".
